End-of-Life Care

When someone you love is approaching the final stage of a terminal illness, additional private care can provide invaluable comfort and support for both the individual and the family.

SHICS Health Care Solutions works alongside hospice providers and families to provide compassionate bedside care through home health aides, nurses, or a coordinated combination of services. Our support does not replace hospice care. Instead, it supplements the hospice plan by providing additional assistance, observation, comfort measures, and companionship when families need it most.

With dependable support in place, family members can step away from caregiving responsibilities and focus on being present with their loved one—sharing memories, offering reassurance, and spending meaningful time together.

End-of-life support may be needed for only a few days or for several weeks. Services are personalized according to the individual's condition, preferences, prescribed plan of care, and the family's needs.

How We Can Help

  • Observe and promptly report pain, anxiety, breathing changes, restlessness, or other symptoms to the hospice or clinical team.
  • Administer prescribed medications when provided by an appropriately licensed nurse and authorized under the established plan of care.
  • Provide comfort measures such as repositioning, adjusting pillows, assisting with personal care, and changing clothing or bed linens.
  • Support oral comfort and hygiene using approved supplies and techniques included in the care plan.
  • Assist with maintaining a calm, peaceful environment through soothing music, gentle touch, or preferred scents when appropriate and welcomed by the client.
  • Explain observed changes and reinforce education provided by the hospice team while offering reassurance and emotional support to family members.
  • Provide compassionate companionship by sitting at the bedside, listening, talking, reading, or holding the individual's hand.
  • Help family members connect and say goodbye, whether in person, by telephone, or through video communication.
  • Respect and support the individual's cultural traditions, spiritual practices, religious beliefs, and personal wishes.

At SHICS, we believe every person deserves to experience the end of life with comfort, dignity, respect, and compassionate human connection. Whether family members are present or unable to remain at the bedside, our caregivers provide a reassuring presence so that no one has to face this stage of life alone.
